Day 2 : Meeting of the Minds

  • Coming into class you will be placed in groups

    • Each group will gather somewhere secluded in the room and begin by sitting in a circle.

    • This circle can be called a conference, council, or meeting, whichever you'd like.

    • In this circle, each member will have the opportunity to speak, describing what came to mind during their guided visualization. â€‹

    • During the council, do your best to describe what the guided visualization made you think of. Describe the experience that came to mind and the component of your identity that was awoken through this experience, try and articulate the medium this awakening has influenced you to work in and how you see it fit to communicate your idea.

      • You can use your notes or whichever resources to facilitate your ideas.

      • The idea of the council, before initial collaboration is so that each group member can speak without receiving any feedback or interruption from other members.

  • A critical goal in all collaborative efforts is communication - to be an effective communicator, we must first be good listeners. Do your best to take in what your members have to offer, without the need for response... Just listen!

    • Once everyone has spoken, the council will be over and you will be free to collaborate however you would like.

  • Now, the collaboration begins

    • Begin to discuss what came up during your guided visualization

    • Consider...

      • How the ideas relate

      • How they differentiate

      • How can they be synthesized into a larger concept that honors each student's experiences and talents as a group collaboration.

    • Sketch out ideas and discuss ideas that might have came to your head about your own component, or perhaps something that could be helpful to another member.

  • Remember, any medium that comes to mind can be used

    • Use your strengths and abilities to collaborate with your members as best as possible, HAVE FUN WITH IT!
